- Abstract
This chronicle firstly looks at an interplay between formal and informal accountability mechanisms in the Slovak political system by reflecting the events surrounding the 2018 murder of investigative journalist J. Kuciak and his fiancée. The aftermath saw the largest public protests in Slovakia since 1989 and led to the resignation of Prime Minister R. Fico, Interior Minister R. Kaliňák and Police President T. Gašpar. In the second part, the chronicle summarizes recent developments at the Constitutional Court of Slovakia before nine out 13 justices' terms expire in February 2019, including the resolution to a longstanding conflict between President A. Kiska and the parliament over the appointment of candidates for constitutional judges elected by the legislature in 2014.
