- Abstract
This article, titled "Dancing Leaves," recounts a poignant encounter between a medical student and a terminally ill patient. Despite the patient's grim prognosis, the student is struck by the warmth and kindness in his eyes. The patient engages in conversation with the student, sharing his love for poetry and reciting one of his own poems. The patient also expresses his longing to see his family, who he has been unable to visit due to visitor restrictions. As the patient's condition worsens, he is transitioned to comfort measures only. In a subsequent visit, the student finds the patient in good spirits, humming and listening to music. They have a heartfelt conversation, and the patient encourages the student to call their own grandfather. The student refrains from revealing that their grandfather has passed away and instead focuses on being present for the patient. The article emphasizes the connection and compassion that can be found in unexpected encounters, even between strangers facing loss.
