- Abstract
The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of the analitical memorization approach on the achievements of students of the Music Education Departments on playing piano pieces from memory. The model of the research is "quasi-experimental" based on nonequivalent control group. The population of the research is the entire group of students at the Music Department of Gazi Education College of Gazi University. The sample, 22 students, was selected from the population of the third year students of 2009-2010 academic year. The subjects included in this study was assigned to either the control group or the experimental group. Each student's performance was recorded during the pre-test and post-test periods. The performances was evaluated and the collected data was compared by Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test and Mann-Whitney U Test, using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). As a result of the research, it was found out that the effects of the analitical memorization approach on the achievements of students on playing piano pieces from memory was significant
