- Abstract
The article deals with Old High German glosses, particularly with incised stylus glosses. These stylus glosses were written on parchment and do not bear any color, which is why they are difficult to notice and decipher. The article also points out the gaps in the transmission of the Old High German Frankish glosses. The article describes an examination of incised glosses on the fragments of a manuscript that contained Aldhelm's treatise "De metris et enigmatibus ac pedum regulis." The fragments are kept in the Abbey Library of St. Gallen and in the City Library of Zofingen. The manuscript is in a critical state of preservation. Other incised Old Frankish Aldhelm glosses in other manuscripts are also mentioned. The manuscript probably dates back to the 8th century, and its exact origin is unknown.
