- Abstract
2,3,7,8 tetra-chlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) is a multispecies reproductive toxicant recently by IARC classified human carcinogen, TCDD promot tumorgenesis of ovarian tumor in domestic brown hens, two hundred domestic hens divided equally and randomly into 2 groups: 1st group feeding on commercial feed pellet while 2nd group feed weekly for 6 months commercial chicken pellet contaminated by 175 µg/kg TCDD for 6 months. The WBCs, serum FSH hormone and serum Alpha fetoprotein were done at 3 and 6 months of experiment also the histopathological changes for left and right ovaries were done at 3 and 6 months. At end of experiment, all flocks were sacrificed and ovaries tissue were examined and staining by hematoxylin and eosin stain, also by Masson trichome stain to detect fibrous connective tissue. Results of TCDD hens showed significantly increased in WBCs count, serum AFP level and decreased in serum FSH hormone at 3 and 6 months with tumorigenesis in both ovaries at 6 months characterized by ovoid to oval epithelium nuclei, papillary neoplastic cells with increase thickening of fibrostroma.
