The article discusses the history of the scholarly field of historical studies at Universities in Scotland from 1894 until 1939, considering issues such as typical academic career patterns, the number of college students studying history, and the development of and changes in curricula during the period. Universities considered include the University of Edinburgh, University of Glasgow, and the University of St. Andrews. Other topics considered include the differentiation between ordinary and honors courses of study, differences in courses of history study between universities in England and Scotland, and the policies of Scottish Universities regarding interdisciplinary studies and degree requirements.
