- Title
From promising to practical: tools to study networks of neurons.
- Authors
Baker, Monya
- Abstract
The article focuses on new techniques and tools being developed for detecting neural activity in order to study the function of neurons in circuits. It discusses various advances in imaging and electrophysiology, including two-photon microscopes, dense arrays of extracellular electrodes, and genetically encoded protein calcium indicators (GECIs). It also discusses how researchers are combining sensors with other techniques including Clay Reid, who is combining different types of microscopy.
