- Abstract
The article presents a literature review on the effectiveness, implementation and political context of primary health care (PHC). It notes that the review reveals some evidence of comprehensive PHC including a study of intersectoral activities or the creation of new community groups provided by the program. It relates that PHC has been associated with improvements in infant mortality and maternal mortality rates that lead to gain in life expectancy at birth.
