- Abstract
A study published in the Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology examines the potential benefits of sparing the medial retropharyngeal nodal region (MRLN) in the treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The study, which included 568 patients, found that MRLN sparing radiotherapy was non-inferior to standard radiotherapy in terms of three-year local relapse-free survival. Additionally, MRLN sparing was associated with a decrease in treatment toxicity and improved quality of life for patients. The study suggests that sparing the MRLN could be a viable option for reducing treatment side effects in nasopharyngeal cancer patients.
