This article presents a reprint of the author's article "Kentucky Hopes for Big Haul from Coal Mine Tourism," from the October 21, 2009 edition of the "USA Today." The article discusses the transformation of abandoned coal mines into educational sites to attract tourists. The article profiles the use of automated robots to educate visitors about the history of coal mining in a Harlan County, Kentucky coal mine underneath Black Mountain.
