- Abstract
The article discusses research problems related to the education of science teachers from the viewpoint of radio education in the U.S. It discusses all that has been done in science broadcasting in the elementary school, junior high school, senior high school, adult education, and popular entertainment levels and relates them to the training of science teachers. The nation-wide radio networks have done several series that were exclusively in the field of science. Besides, various national organizations in fields other than broadcasting have prepared materials for radio use. However, an average public school science teacher is totally unaware of these broadcasts. So, in order to encourage present and future science teachers to make the best possible use of the radio education there is a need of a course in audio visual training of all prospective teachers. It is expected that the radio or television lesson sooner or later will assume a place along with visual materials, demonstration and laboratory equipment, and textbooks. This leads to the real research problem of the classroom teacher and his methods of utilizing these resources.
