- Title
Textiles exports to US pick up as China slips.
- Abstract
The article presents an outlook for the textile industry in the U.S. in 2008. It is estimated that textile exports in the U.S. will increase as China's market declines. In January 2008, Indian textiles and clothing (T&C) exporters posted 0.53 percent increase in terms of U.S. dollar. Meanwhile, Chinese textile exporters reported a negative 2.57 percent growth in their operations in January and February 2008. The author claims that such decline is associated with China's economic growth. It is noted that as economy develops beyond a certain level, it becomes unsuited to the T&C industry.
