- Abstract
EHealth has been undergoing a significant development in recent years. There are a lot of examples of technology accessing eHealth sector recently and they are common in most European countries. This is mostly seen in the context of implementing health reforms, introducing new and innovative models for delivering health services and offering effective methods of access and exchange of health information. The introducing of information and communication technologies into the field of medicine in Bulgaria is connected with a number of expectations, but at the same time with many questions. In addition to eHealth implementing agreement, а coordination and effective communication between the institutions involved in the problem are needed. It also requires a successful implementation and delivery of better quality and publicly-held services. EHealth demands a publicly available information campaign and public consultation. The methods used for the purpose of this pilot study are an online survey and a descriptive statistical analysis of the results. The survey has found that Bulgarian society is not sufficiently well informed about the nature and benefits of eHealth. However, the surveyed audience have demonstrated a positive attitude about the expected quality of health services. This addresses the need for the introduction of e-services, the expansion of health information on the Internet and the creation of a National Health Portal with all the necessary user satisfaction features.
