- Abstract
Indicators of inward FDI identify Slovenia as an unattractive and below-potential host country. On the other hand, the sectoral composition of Slovenian inward FDI stock is comparable to the world average. The Slovenian share of services and high- to medium-high-tech manufacturing in inward FDI stock is above the world average and almost at the level of developed countries. The industrystructure of outward FDI reveals a disproportionately high weight of manufacturing and an outstanding deficit of FDI in services. A special section deals with outsourcing, where the most intensive progress is expected in the coming years. In the last part, the most significant dilemmas are examined, followed by a list of challenges and policy recommendations for Slovenian FDI strategy.
