The article discusses the history of the First Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama and its contributions to society. It describes the design and construction of the church's buildings over a 200 year period, the religious history of racial relations in Alabama and its effect on the First Baptist Church, and the industrialization of the South and the church's role in serving the poor and the working class.
