- Abstract
This study aims to know the effectiveness of a group counseling program based on Holland’s theory in developing professional maturity and job satisfaction among educational counselors in the Capital of Jordan. This study adopted the quasi-experimental approach, as the study sample consisted of (30) educational counselors from the Amman First Education Directorate directors and guides, and the Amman Second Education Directorate, who are deliberately chosen for the cooperation of the administration of the two directorates with the researcher in the application of the current study. Male and female counselors are divided into two groups, experimental and control, by random assignment. The study members are divided into two groups, one of them experimental and the number of its members are (15) male and female counselors, which are studied through a collective counseling program based on Holland’s theory, and the other a control group, which is studied in the usual way during the first semester of the academic year (2021-2022). The two groups are subjected to a pre-post test to measure the job satisfaction of educational counselors in the Capital of Jordan, and the results are analyzed using one-way covariance (ANCOVA) and using the analysis of multiple common variance (MANCOVA). The results show the following: 1. There are statistically significant differences at the significance level (α ≤ 0.05) on the job satisfaction scale, in favor of the experimental group, due to the collective counseling program based on Holland’s theory. 2. There are statistically significant differences at the significance level (α ≤ 0.05) on the job satisfaction scale according to the gender variable and in favor of females. 3. There are statistically significant differences at the significance level (α ≤ 0.05) on the job satisfaction scale according to the variable years of experience, and in favor of the more experienced females.
