Compares the rates of fatal car crashes before and after New Mexico resumed a 65-mile-per-hour speed limit on rural interstate highways in 1987. Increase in the rate of fatal crashes in the first year after the speed limit was increased; Increase in fatal single-vehicle crashes; Finding that vehicles on rural interstates are traveling at greater rates of speed.
