- Abstract
This paper presents designing and implementing of a hysteresis closed loop speed control on field programmable gate array (FPGA) technology for a three-phase induction motor drive system. The PWM signals are generated by a Spartan3-xc3s400 FPGA from Xilinx Inc. and FPGA compares motor speed (process variable) with desired speed (set point) continuously and tries to reduce error signals by generation controlling signals through changing modulation index using an ON/OFF SPWM control algorithm. Experimental results achieved from a typical speed control scheme and comparing them with MATLAB SIMULINK based simulation results demonstrate that FPGA based drive system provides controlling signals properly to track speed set points.
