- Title
Stella's Voice: Echo and Collaboration in Astrophil and Stella 57 and 58.
- Authors
Kolb, Laura
- Abstract
The article critiques the poem "Astrophil and Stella" by Philip Sidney. Particular focus is given to the role of the character Stella in sonnets 57 and 58 of the poem and to her status as an independent being. It is suggested that in reading and singing the character Astrophil's poems, Stella presents herself as a separate subject, rather than simply the object of his love. Other topics include objectification and voice.
