- Abstract
Background: Since 2017, competence centers for the promotion of specialty training in family medicine have been established nationwide, such as KANN in Lower Saxony and Bremen. In addition to continuing education courses and a mentoring program for phy - sicians in specialty training, KANN also offers train-the-trainer seminars (TtT) for family physicians who are engaged in specialty training. KANN's TtT concept is based on experiences of the Academy for continuing medical education in familiy medicine of Bremen. Methods: Descriptive analysis of the evaluation results till early 2020. Results: All TtT formats have been evaluated separately. Participants voted an average overall grade of 1.4 in school grades (range: 1.3-1.6; 1 = very good; 6 = very bad). 56 % of the participants were male, 53.3 years old on average (median: 49 years) and had been working as family physicians on average for 16.4 years (range: 2-31 years). The evaluation focused on satisfaction with the course and self-assessed competence gain. The average overall rating of the basic courses was 1.3. Individual subject areas such as knowledge management have been rated lower, but with an average value of 1.9 still in a very satisfactory range. Conclusions: Overall, KANN's TtT concept was rated very highly. Nevertheless, we are constantly developing the concept to adapt it to the changing needs of the participants. With regard to the introduction of compulsory TtTs for all physicians engaged in specialty training, the training concept of the KWs could be a model for other disciplines as well.
