- Title
Japan's Antiwar Legacy.
- Authors
Dudden, Alexis
- Abstract
The article offers the author's insights on the antiwar position of Japan evident in the views of Emperor Akihito and the Article 9 in the post-1945 constitution which renounces the sovereign right of the country to wage war. He mentions that the emperor devoted his life on compensating for the atrocities committed by their troops in World War II under the reign of his father Emperor Hirohito. The author also cited the Students Emergency Action for Liberal Democracy (SEALD), a group of students which aims to preserve the Article 9.
