- Title
New Markers May Help Predict Prostate Cancer Relapse Risk.
- Authors
Hampton, PhD, Tracy
- Abstract
This article discusses new ways scientists have found to predict which prostate cancer patients are more likely to have cancer relapses to determine which patients will benefit the most from the most aggressive treatment to ward off relapse. Researchers at the University of California in San Diego and Illumina Inc. did studies on gene expression patterns that they believe will provide them with more information for prognosticating. Other researchers are investigating the potential of methylation markers to distinguish aggressive from nonaggressive prostate tumors.
