- Abstract
The Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) is experiencing considerable expansion, and one of the recent achievements has been the creation of the archive section. The main goal of this extension activity is the preservation of the documentary heritage of FURG by means of preventive conservation procedures, envisaging the optimization of University resources and preservation of the Institutional Memory. More specifically, the work aims to promote the inseparability of teaching, research, and extension, allied to institutional development, in order to ensure the protection and preservation of the institution's archived records, and enable public access to archived information, in accordance with current laws.
