- Abstract
This article describes the poetry of U.S. poet Gary Snyder. For 50 years, Snyder has been writing poetry of unaffected clarity and moral seriousness. The poetry collections of Snyder include "Riprap," "The Back Country," and "Turtle Island." Prose books were published by Snyder which tackled the themes of wilderness, ecological awareness and consumer culture in the 1980s and 1990s. His commitment to writing poetry was evidenced by his long poem "Mountains and Rivers Without End," which appeared in 1996.
