- Authors
FIELD, CORINNE
- Abstract
A literary criticism of the book "Vindication of the Rights of Woman" by Mary Wollstonecraft is presented. According to the author, it is an important source for understanding how ideas about girls and girlhood operated in 18th-century British and French society and influenced the aims and strategies of early feminists. Topics discussed include the sexualization of girls, the infantilization of women, and the relationship between maturation and political power.
