- Title
The Post-Stimulus Bill Era of Executive Compensation.
- Authors
Schneider, Paul J.
- Abstract
The article discusses U.S. law on executive salaries. The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, the bailout of the financial services industry and the American Recovery & Reconstruction Act of 2009, known as the economic stimulus package, created by President Barack Obama each contain restrictions on practices relating to executive compensation. Each attempts to discourage excessive risk taking by senior executives by placing limitations on the bonus system. Advice is presented on how companies can best manage the new requirements. It is suggested that senior risk officers be made members of executive compensation committees.
