- Title
Request for Medically-Assisted Reproductive Technology after the Death of the Male Partner.
- Abstract
The article discusses the ethical issues behind the medically-assisted reproductive technology after the death of the male partner. It offers the stance of Comité Consultatif National d'Éthique pour les Sciences de la Vie et de la Santé (CCNE) in France on women's request for insemination with the frozen sperm of their dead spouse or the post mortem transfer of cryopreserved embryos. It provides an overview on the two scenarios, the post mortem use of cryopreserved sperm and embryo transfer post mortem. It tackles the ethical objection to post mortem assisted reproductive technology based on child's interest, mother's interest, and community's point of view.
