- Title
New EU states ranked.
- Authors
Aldridge, Susan
- Abstract
The article reports that the biotechnology industry in most of the new European Union (EU) member states is lagging behind that of their Western European neighboring countries, according to the 14 allbio document produced by EuropaBio and Venture Valuation. Among the leading countries are Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Estonia. The lower ranking of new EU states is attributed to the lack of support structures for small and medium-sized enterprises and funding for intellectual property and technology transfer despite a high educated workforce.
