- Abstract
The article reveals how the Haganah paramilitary organization established by the Yishuv leadership in Palestine, monitored and recorded the daily life of Palestinians in Village Files in the 1930s and 1940s. Topics discussed include the motivation of the Yishuv to use intelligence to counter Palestinian resistance to the Zionist project, the al-Bireh village file, sources used by the Haganah Village Files for intelligence surveys, and indicators of a planned campaign of ethnic cleansing.
