- Abstract
The article focuses on the medieval silver artifacts found in the Yamal Nenets Autonomous District in Shuryshkary Region in Siberia, Russia. A plate that shows a sharp tool-incised anthropomorphic figure and two fish was found by N.G. Rochev in 1970. Decorated through engraving, gilding and niello, the twofold silver bracelet and the second plate with images of anthropomorphic figures, an animal and fish, were found by M.L. Istomin. A 7.4 in diameter medallion with representations of mounted and prostrated warriors was discovered by I.L. Istomin. Furthermore, a silver plate found in a spirit-guardian long shirt and a circular plaque with a hunting scene was retrieved in June 2005. The usage of these silver plates and plaques in Siberian's religious practices are also explored.
