- Abstract
The author discusses the character and assesses the significance of the architecture of two abbey churches, Westminster Abbey in Mission, British Columbia, and Saint Peter's Abbey in Muenster, Saskachewan. He explores what he understands to be Benedictine attitudes to sacred architecture. He suggests that the forms themselves are anagogical, meaning "to connote spiritual elevation, especially to understand mysteries," and explores the extent to which such qualities may be linked with the Benedictine tradition itself. The author provides brief histories of each of the churches and analyzes the architectural design of the churches.
