- Abstract
The article discusses the results of the gemological examination of an orangy yellow 0.96 ct transparent mixed-cut zircon from Anakle, Queensland, Australia, conducted by researchers at the Gemological Institute of America. The researchers determined that the zircon had been subjected to high-temperature heat treatment because of its reflective decrepitation halo surrounding a melted inclusion. Examination also showed that an elongated central inclusion containing a transparent solid with a frozen gas bubble at its tip was surrounded by a ring of solidified melt droplets.
