- Abstract
The article reprints the 1737 political journal entries of Edward Harley, third Earl of Oxford (1699-1755), while he served as a Member of Parliament in Great Britain's House of Commons. Some of the events discussed include efforts by the Prince of Wales to circumvent his father, King George II, by abusing parliamentary procedure in an effort to receive an annual stipend without his father's consent; debates regarding the prohibition of manufacturing enterprises in British colonies; and the enactment of legislation prohibiting "stockjobbing."
