- Abstract
The topic of relaxation in religious groups is not exclusive of Franciscans, it also affected different religious which existed in the "Kingdom of Chile", including female groups during the late colonial period. Concerning the Franciscans of the Holy Trinity Province, presented in this article, the problem was analyzed based on the visit of Tomas Torrico as the principal written source. This document shows several situations not present in the "Regula", let alone in the statutes constitutions of the congregation. This unpublished source, kept in the "Archivo Franciscano de Santiago de Chile, allows to investigate the friars' daily life. The Visits included in the statutes of the congregation were of great usefulness because they became the main source to create the so-called "Letras Patentes" by ecclesiastic's authorities as the Provincial Ministers, These "Letras Patentes" were official documents that intended to correct the different anomalies mistakes or problems existing in the monastery. This fact constitutes the relevance of the source which is analyzed in this article.
