- Abstract
The article focuses on the political role in the sports establishment of independent countries. It reports that members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) do not represents their countries but the Olympic movement within their countries, thereby making them politically independent. It makes a reference to the an appeal filed by the Curaçao, an independent country which came into the existence following the fall out of the Caribbean country called Netherlands Antilles, and Olympic federation in order to be recognized as the sporting nation by IOC under the rules of National Olympic Committee (NOC) but to no avail. It also states that IOC dismissed the appeal as it was not under the jurisdiction of Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
