- Abstract
The author reflects on the study which compares the transcutaneous oxygen-tension measurements (TOM) and ankle/arm indices in the perioperative period in diabetic patients. She recognized the excellent comparison the researchers produced. However, she said that they have confused measurements of the ankle/brachial systolic pressure ratio (ASPR) with pulse volume recording. The author added that they are correct in concluding that TOM is more accurate and sensitive diagnostic indicator than ASPR.
