- Abstract
Fifty-five patients with 78 arterial or vein injuries were operated on and treated over the last 10 years. The main etiologic factors were road accidents (27.3%), war injuries (23.6%), and iatrogenic lesions (27.3%). Patients with injured blood vessels associated with severe multiple trauma increased the overall mortality and reached a rate of 10.9%. Urgent careful repair of the vessels and stabilization of the fractured bones saved damaged limbs. The amputation rate in our series was 1.8%.
