- Abstract
The article presents a study which analyzed the foraging ecology of seabirds in the eastern tropical Pacific Ocean during 1983-1991. It discusses the importance of marine insect Heteroptera as prey of Eastern Tropical Pacific Seabirds. Details of the consumption of sea skaters Halobates species, marine insects that are small and fast moving, are reported. It was found that White-faced Storm-Petrel Pelagronima marina and White-bellied Storm-Petrel Fregetta grallaria, slow with extensive kick splashing against the sea surface, attempt to consume sea skaters.
