- Authors
Schierman, Elizabeth Herbst
- Abstract
The article presents the author's insight on the benefits and costs of securing intellectual property rights. She says that acquiring a patent for an invention will likely total 10,000 dollars and the patent prosecution will take several years while trademark registrations require additional fees after the rights are secured. She adds that intellectual property right is a necessity for those who will financially suffer from infringement and luxury for those who do not need copyright protection.
