Gravatom extends ties with BNFL.
- Abstract
The article informs that Gravatom Engineering Systems Ltd. has won a new contract to supply two containment facilities to BNFL. The new facilities, consisting of material segregation and preparation units, are to be installed at the Springfields site of the Westinghouse Electric Corp., part of the BNFL Group. The segregation facility comprises a single reception glove box connecting directly to a sorting containment with sash windows, which features eight separate waste bin stations to enable different types of waste to be segregated and weighed. The preparation area comprises a suite of interconnected, sash window containments to enable filters and waste to be processed and sorted for onward routing to a Nitric Acid Wash Facility. Both facilities feature a comprehensive extract system and a system of electrical interlocks to minimize variations in extract volume. Gravatom secured the new contract following the successful installation of a drum unloading station at Springfields.
