This article profiles poet Miklós Radnoti. He was born on May 5, 1909. His mother died at childbirth. He was sent to live with his maternal uncle Dezco Grosz after the death of his father. He was encouraged to write poetry by his mathematics teacher. He voiced his concerns in topical poems in the early and mid-1930s. He won the Baumgarten Prize in 1937.
