The article discusses the environmental changes caused by construction of 5,500 kilometers long Interoceanic Highway that has caused deforestation in the Peruvian Amazon forest, also known as Amazonia located in Peru, Ecuador and Brazil. It reveals that increased visits of ranchers, gold miners and farmers have resulted in treeless expanses whereas roadside buildings have set the stage for wildfires weakening the ecosystem.
