- Abstract
The aim of this research is to examine the difficulties experienced by women with children with disabilities from a holistic perspective, and to present social policy recommendations in line with the findings obtained from the research. The research was designed according to the phenomenology pattern, which is one of the qualitative research methods. A semi-structured interview form with open-ended questions was developed as a data collection tool. The participants of the research were determined according to a purposive sampling strategy. In this context, with the help of an interview form, data were collected from 20 women with children with disabilities within the framework of qualitative research methods. The data were subjected to content analysis using the MAXQDA program. Research findings are presented with tables, figures, code maps and direct participant statements. According to the data obtained from the research, some of difficulties experienced by women with children with disabilities are; hopelessness, unhappiness, and a feeling of helplessness, and also high levels of worry and anxiety, a lack of income due to additional expenses, alienation from the labor market, and the burden of care preventing entry into working life, health problems caused by the difficulty and addiction of caring for the disabled child, exposure to social exclusion and discrimination, family domestic problems and loneliness can be expressed as the inadequacy of the social policies implemented for working women. In addition, changes to existing social policies and new social policy proposals are presented, in line with the expectations and suggestions of women who have children with disabilities.
