- Abstract
The article discusses the development of rice culture, rice plantations, the rice trade and rice farming in Lower Cape Fear, North Carolina from the late 17th century through and the mid 1770s. An overview of the impact that Cape Fear's rice trade had on the economic conditions of British colony of North Carolina is provided. The exportation of rice cultivated in Lower Cape Fear is discussed.
