- Abstract
A literary criticism is provided of the 1984 American novel "Thinner," by Stephen King. An overview of the novel's obese protagonist Billy Halleck, including Billy's eating of junk food and a gypsy's curse on him causing him to lose weight and grow thinner, is provided. U.S. culture during the 1980s, consisting of physical fitness and exercise workouts, is discussed.
