New Tests for Prostate Cancer May Be Nearing the Clinic.
- Authors
Tuma, Rabiya S.
- Abstract
The article discusses the new and improved tests being developed for detecting prostate cancer that are said to be better than the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test. The prostate cancer antigen 3 (PCA3) and the TMPRSS2-ERG (T2:E) are seen in several studies to show better specificity than the PSA. Although several studies showed how effective the new tests are, it is said that the PSA test will not be eliminated completely because the diagnosis and treatment algorithms are still based on the PSA.
