- Abstract
The article reports on the signing of the national unity accord by the Likud Party headed by Yitzhak Shamir and the Labor Party led by Shimon Peres in Israel. The parties adopted austerity measures to contend against poor economic conditions. The long-range economic stability was achieved through the cooperation of President Ronald Reagan who created the Joint Economic Development Group together with the experts of both nations and assessed the austerity measures and recommended aid packages.
