- Abstract
The article cites the case of Pakistan ex-Prime Minister Zulfigar Ali Bhutto who was sentenced to death by the country's Supreme Court in April 1979. Bhutto was charged with having ordered the murder of General Zia Ul Haq, the ruler of Pakistan, but pleaded not guilty and maintained that the charges were fabricated by Zia. However, the decision of the Supreme Court and the trial court have prevailed with Bhutto's conviction and awarding of the death sentence which has caused political turmoil.
