- Abstract
The paper analyses the reception of contemporary poetry among the primary school pupils, particularly in the lower primary grades. The analysis is based on the reception theory, aiming at defining the factors and transformations that enable the acquisition of this theory at an appropriate level. From a synchronic perspective, the reception is analysed relative to pupils' age, the poetics of a lyrical poem, and (teaching) the interpretation of the poetic text. From a diachronic perspective, the shifting of the pupils' horizon of expectations is demonstrated relative to the modern information era in which the pupils are growing up and the individual change of the pupils' position as recipients as they are growing up. In both cases, poetry is deprived of artificiality and divination, and what remains is modernity of the text confronted with the modernity of the recipient and the time. The qualitative aspects of the poetry are analysed on the example of the poetry of Vasko Popa, while the recipients are the pupils of the lower and higher primary school grades.
