- Abstract
The influence of Islam on the urban development of residential units is of crucial importance in today's urban development. In order to understand the true meaning of Islam as a religion and its influence on social development, we need to understand the basic concepts of Islam as a religion. The basic elements of Islamic values are architectural principles, rights and obligations of individuals that represent the real foundations of traditional residential neighborhoods. The urban morphology and architectural typology of traditional residential neighborhoods at the level: street, block, house and yard is a reflection of social living conditions. Therefore, Islam has a major impact on the urban development, the development of the human person and the family as well as the entire society. The main influences that have affected modern residential neighborhoods and created the current physical form of cities are the economic and technological development, industrialization and population migration. Planning of today's residential structure depends on the population structure and its economic standards. Features of the Islamic residential urban development and modern Islamic neighborhoods have been proposed. Hence, the main objective in terms of the provisions of housing construction is that every household should have a home that would correspond to a certain standard of modern living.
